Port Colborne’s West Street will be alive with visual art, exhibitors, demonstrations, hands-on activities and live music during the ninth annual Art Crawl.

“Altogether with visual artists and musicians, we’re looking at 75 people on the street and collaborating with downtown business,” said organizer Elizabeth Madronich.

The event is Saturday, June 22. Madronich said West Street between Clarence and Victoria streets, and Kent Street between King and West streets will be closed noon to 7 p.m.

Charlotte and West streets will be home to the main music stages. Three For All, Malley’s Mates, Gravely James, Cory Cruise and Bernie Borgman will perform.

Musicians will also be performing at The Smokin’ Buddha, Amigos and other locations.

Madronich said in the event of rain, the Belmont Hotel will host main stage musicians as well as the art competition.

The second annual art competition runs 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature artists painting in a battle against time to create a winning masterpiece. The crowd will vote on a winner and all the paintings will be auctioned off.

Madronich said there’s still time for artists to sign up for the art competition, and for musicians and artists in general to be part of Art Crawl.

New to the event this year is the Creative Corner, where there will be activities for all ages.

A community canvas that everyone can take part in, face painting, a colouring contest, chalk art, a save the bees project and more will be found on West Street and in front of various business on Clarence Street. Families are welcome to join in with hands-on art activities, dance, uoga on the hill with Liz Freitas, and a paint party with Wendy Malowany.
